Cairo, Egypt

Cairo is the jewel of the orient and the melting pot of ancient and modern Egyptian civilizations. It is the largest city in the Middle East and lies at the centre of all routes leading to, and from the three continents: Africa, Asia, and Europe. Greater Cairo extends on the banks of the River Nile to the south of its delta and the city where past and present meets. In the eastern side stands the evidence of 2000 years of great cultures still flourishing to this day whereas on its western side lies the ancient Egyptian city of Memphis (Giza), the renowned capital of the Old Kingdom and the site of the Pyramids, the only surviving Seven Wonders of the World. Indeed, a journey through Cairo is a journey through time--a journey through the history of an immortal civilization.

Yet Egypt also offers nature and desert treks, great scuba diving, golf, fishing and birding expeditions. Relax on the wondrous Egypt Red Sea or Sinai coasts, high culture of Cairo, or leisurely float down the River Nile on a luxurious boat.
