Impact in Germplasm Development and Breeding Methodologies
Collaborated with national wheat program scientists in developing countries directly in germplasm development and training, over past 27 years. During this time, He visited most key national wheat growing programs in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, often as CIMMYT's contributor to joint breeding research. He contributed to the development of more than 100 spring, facultative and winter bread wheat cultivars released in developing countries, from positions both at CIMMYT HQ (in collaboration with S. Rajaram) and in CIMMYT's regional programs in Turkey and Ethiopia. In addition, He has given numerous lectures and seminars on wheat research around the world, often as invited and/or key speaker. The research included breeding for global adaptation and yield factors, for biotic factors, and abiotic factors, quality factors breeding methodology, genetic and breeding simulation and theory, and software development.

He has been widely involved in fund raising and written about 279 publications in refereed and non-refereed journals (68), books, proceedings and official bulletins, and book chapters, contributed to five software products, and author of one patent.
