Field Guide to Lentil Diseases and Insect Pests

Foreword

Productivity and yield stability of lentil (Lens culinaris M.) in different production systems are often constrained by diseases, insect pests and several abiotic stress factors. A timely identification of the disorders caused by these factors is essential to reduce their adverse effects. The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) has a global mandate for the crop improvement research on lentil, and is devoting considerable effort to the genetic enhancement of the crop and to developing effective measures to minimize crop losses. This field guide has been developed to assist in the correct diagnosis and effective control of various pests, diseases and other factors that damage the lentil crop. It is hoped that it will be useful to all those who are interested in the improvement and production of lentil.
