Steering Committee Meeting The 8th Steering Committee meeting of the WANA Seed Network was held on 27-28 March 2001 in Cairo, Egypt. The Committee members from Cyprus, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Syria attended the meeting. The GTZ seed projects in collaboration with the Central Administration for Seed Production (CASP) and Central Administration for Seed Testing and Certification (CASC) hosted the meeting and provided financial support.
Network Publications The three Network publications namely; WANA Variety Catalogue, WANA Field and Seed Standards Catalogue and WANA Seed Directory are being revised based on the decisions of the Council meeting in 1999. The draft WANA seed certification scheme presented to the Council has been translated into Arabic and distributed to member countries for reviewing in mid 2001. The catalogue on weed species is now in print and will be ready for circulation to member countries and national seed programs.
Focus on Seed Programs Since 1994, 15 issues of the 'Focus' series on national seed programs of member countries were published. The 'focus' on Algeria is now in preparation and that leaves only Iran and Saudi Arabia to complete the series. The Network Council decided to update already published 'Focuses' to reflect recent developments in national seed programs. All member countries are working to revise the documents. It is envisaged to receive all revisions from member countries and to publish the updated version in 2001.
