The International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) has circulated the ISTA Monitoring Standard for the accreditation and authorization of seed company laboratories, agreed by its Executive Committee in the framework of the Experiment 2000-2004. The ISTA Monitoring Standard, like the ISTA rules and laboratory accreditation system, assist in harmonization and uniform application of monitoring systems for seed company laboratories worldwide. Seed companies wishing to be accredited by ISTA, and authorized to issue certificates by the ISTA Designated Authority under the ISTA Monitoring Standard, must apply in writing to the ISTA Secretariat and confirm that they adhere and agree to all conditions mentioned in this standard.
        Company laboratories wishing to be authorized to issue ISTA certificates under the ISTA monitoring system must be ISTA members and have valid ISTA accreditation for company laboratories.
        This standard specifies the procedures and requirement for national monitoring bodies and seed company laboratories to obtain and maintain the status of an ISTA accredited seed company laboratory and the corresponding authorization to issue ISTA certificates.
