Award for Dr Paroda

IRaj Paroda, Chairman, Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences (TAAS) and formerly ICARDA's ADG for International Cooperation, has been honored yet again. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at a function in New Delhi, India, on 19 September. The award was presented by Somnath Chatterjee, Speaker of the Indian Parliament. Excerpts from the award citation: "A scientist par excellence and an outstanding administrator…significant contributions to strengthening national research systems in India as well as Central Asia and the Caucasus…. a geneticist of international repute… the main architect of the world's three largest and most modern national genebanks."
 

About ICARDA: Established in 1977, ICARDA (www.icarda.org) is one of the 15 international research centers supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). ICARDA serves the entire developing world for the improvement of barley, lentil, and faba bean; and dry-area developing countries for the on-farm management of water, improvement of nutrition and productivity of small ruminants (sheep and goats), and rehabilitation and management of rangelands.
