ICARDA, GRDC-Australia, sign Agreement
ICARDA has signed a strategic Alliance Agreement with the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) of Australia. The agreement was signed by Dr Mahmoud Solh, Director General of ICARDA, and Mr Terry Enright, Chair of the Board of Directors of GRDC, on 6 May, during Mr Enright's visit to ICARDA. The agreement formalizes the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions in several areas, with the aim to produce products that will be of benefit to poor farmers in developing countries, as well as grain producers in Australia. Under the agreement, GRDC will support joint research on spring bread wheat improvement, and on breeding chickpea for drought tolerance and disease resistance.
