Training in Integrated Crop Management for Afghan Farmers
Potato Integrated Crop Management course in Parwan province, Afghanistan.
A training course on Integrated Crop Management (ICM) of Potato was conducted in the Parwan province of Afghanistan on 13 April 2004 in collaboration with International Potato Center (CIP). Topics included agronomic practices for potato seed production, disease and pest control, and post-harvest management practices. Over 70 farmers, extension officers, and NGO staff attended the training which included lectures, discussions and field demonstrations. Mr Moeen-ud-deen Siraj, Potato Project Coordinator, served as the resource person and delivered lectures. Similar courses were held in: Ghazni province on 15 April 2004 with 37 participants, and in Nangarhar province in the first week of April with 60 participants. Dr Mohinder Singh Kadian from CIP-India and Dr Siraj served as resource persons for the Ghazi province training course.
