| ICARDA Director General Prof. Dr Adel El-Beltagy (right) presents a souvenir plate to Rector Prof. Xavier Chapuisat and Vice-Rector Prof. Anita Bersellini (left), from the University of Paris, who visited ICARDA headquarters on 6 March. The Director General took the opportunity to brief the visitors on the Center's mission to enhance the economic well-being of the rural poor in the world's dry areas. He acknowledged the Center's long and fruitful relationship with France, which has included collaboration with the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, among other institutes. The three had a brief brainstorming session on possible future "multidisciplinary collaboration," likely in Central Asia. Other efforts might focus on biotechnology. The visitors were also given a tour of ICARDA laboratories and the farm. | |||||||||||||||||
