Research Associate
The Biodiversity and Integrated Gene Management Program
Aleppo, Syria
The Biodiversity and Integrated Gene Management Program (BIGMP) has an immediate vacancy for the position of Research Associate (NPO1 category) at ICARDA's headquarters in Aleppo.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The following will be the duties and responsibilities of Research Associate reporting directly to the Head of the Entomology Laboratory:
•
 Under supervision prepare field, plastic house and lab experiments, apply treatments, gather, manage and analyze data.
•
 Supervise on a day-to-day basis, junior regional staff and daily-paid labor
•
 Prepare reports and other documentation, as requested
•
 Participate in training programs
•
 Perform other jobs assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
•
 Minimum B.Sc. in Agriculture, plant protection
•
 Minimum of five years working experience in entomology
•
 Good command of spoken and written English is essential
•
 Ability to use computers for data management
•
 Ability to work in a team and supervise daily workers
•
 Ability to communicate research findings
•
 Ability to summarize data and write technical and non-technical reports in English
•
 Excellent command of MS Office applications, proficiency in the use of statistical packages for data analysis

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The initial period of employment will be one year and renewable on an annual basis. Starting salary will depend on relevant qualifications and experience. ICARDA provides 30 days annual leave, a savings scheme, and medical/life insurance.
