Research Technician
Biodiversity & Integrated Gene Management Program (BIGMP)

The Biodiversity & Integrated Gene Management Program (BIGMP) - Chickpea Improvement - has an immediate vacancy for the position of Research Technician (GS4 - GS6) at ICARDA's headquarters in Aleppo.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The following will be the duties and responsibilities of Research Technician reporting directly to the Chickpea Breeder:
•
 Data entry, management, and compilation
•

Conduct of field and glasshouse experiments
•

Assist in conduct of laboratory experiments
•
 Assist in training of trainees and daily staff
•
 Any other work assigned by the Program Leader

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
•
 Post Secondary Diploma
•

Preferably six years of experience of data entry and analysis
•

Demonstrated computer skills and ability to record and collate experimental data using appropriate software
•
 Knowledge of experimental procedures associated with chickpea improvement research; an understanding of protocols and standard operating procedures is desirable
•
 Demonstrated ability to carry out molecular biology activities (PCR, SSR, capillary electrophoresis etc) associated with chickpea improvement
•
 Computer literacy
•
 Good English proficiency

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The initial period of employment will be one year and renewable on an annual basis. Starting salary will depend on relevant qualifications and experience. ICARDA provides 20 days annual leave, a savings scheme, and medical/life insurance.
