Lifetime Award for Dr Solh
Dr Mahmoud Solh, ICARDA Director General, has won the Lifetime Achievement Award, instituted by the Indian Society of Pulses Research and Development to honor scientists and research managers who have made outstanding contributions in pulses research, development and promotion.

The award was presented on 14 February, at the International Conference on Grain Legumes, held in Kanpur, India. Dr Solh received the special crest from Dr Abdul Kalam, former President of India.

Accepting the award, Dr Solh paid tribute to Dr Kalam for his visionary leadership in combating illiteracy, hunger and poverty in India; and to Dr Masood Ali, Director of the Indian Institute for Pulses Research, for his outstanding role in pulses research and development in India and beyond.
