Dr John Ryan honored

Dr John Ryan, Consultant Soil Scientist, has been named as an Honorary Member of the International Union of Soil Scientists. This is the highest honor to be given to a soil scientist by this global scientific body. It recognizes superior achievement to the discipline of soil science at the international level. The decision was reached by the IUSS Executive Committee at the recent Congress Pre-planning meeting in Brisbane Australia. Dr Ryan's initial nomination was sponsored by the Irish Soil Science Society, while the case for acceptance was presented by Professor Ahmet Mermut as a representative of Canada and Turkey. The honorary Membership will be conferred at the World Soil Science Congress in Brisbane in 2010.
