Kazakh Agrarian University honors Dr Mahmoud Solh

Dr Mahmoud Solh, DG, with Dr Aitbay K.Bulashev, President of the Ueifullin Kazak Agro Technical University Dr Mahmoud Solh was awarded the title of "Honorable Professor" by the Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University, Astana, on 20 June. Dr Solh was invited to deliver a special lecture on "The role of ICARDA in Central Asia and the Caucasus." The lecture was attended by more than 100 senior faculty members, representatives of Kazakh Government, graduate and postgraduate students of the University, NARS leaders from the eight CAC countries, as well as scientists and researchers from the CG centers. In his lecture, Dr Solh elaborated on ICARDA's mission, research activities and achievements in the dry areas of the world, including the CAC region. The participants were highly impressed with ICARDA's research achievements in germplasm conservation, breeding new crop varieties, soil conservation and water saving technologies, livestock management, as well as socioeconomic research.
